Beginning in Earnest

Nick Bombicino has returned to us from his sojourn to Ithica, following his heart to spend time with his love.  He's back, and now we begin rehearsal in earnest this week.

With input from Shakespearean scholar David Vann from the Birmingham School of Acting, we have developed our concept further and feel terrific about the clarity and efficacy of the stories we are telling.  When all is said and done, Romeo & Juliet is about love, and now our concept fits nicely into that - it will be a double love story, a play within a play.  But stop my fingers!  This will not be a website full of spoilers...

We are proud and thankful to announce the sponsor for our kick-off production on November 26-28:  Chroma Technology Corporation - producing the finest optical filters.

Preview Reviews

Peter Gould - Writer, Actor, Director, Teacher:  "It was really lovely.  I was surprised by how fresh Jay and Jess made the balcony scene.  I've seen it so many times, and its hard to make it new, but it was really great-it just sped right by!"

Genna Nethercott - Playwright, Actress: "They were great in the Cabaret. Jay and Jess were so adorable."

Raphi Shamas - High School student: "It was definitely my favorite piece all night.  The acting was awesome."

Preview!

This Friday, at the NEYT Community Cabaret, we will be presenting the deliciously sweet and sometimes sexy BALCONY SCENE from Romeo & Juliet. We'll be using an actual balcony, which we can't load on my car for the touring show.  So, we're excited to be doing it the way Shakespeare intended (you know the old Globe had a beautiful balcony... so does the new one!).

The show starts at 7:30 and tickets are $10 at the door.
NEYT is located at 100 Flat St. in downtown Brattleboro.
More info about the show:  www.neyt.org

Proceeds from this event will go toward making programs at the New England Youth Theatre accessible for students, even if they are unable to afford it.

BEAN Supper Grant!

We are pleased to accept $300 from the first ever BEAN Micro-Grant Dinner held at Brattleboro Museum and Art Center (BMAC)!

This money will enable us to send out a mailing to schools about our project, and possibly fund some of our production costs!

Check out the news on BMAC's website: http://www.brattleboromuseum.org/press/

We want to send a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all of the attendees for voting for our proposal!

And away we go!

I am totally excited and ready for this ridiculously fun and beautiful endeavor, known as Romeo & Juliet.  The cast will be all together October 24th to begin rehearsals.
Techies battle it out!
Meanwhile, we are scheming and planning and reaching out to everyone we know to get involved in this process.
Ahh, star crossed love, and curmudgeons!
Our first performance is the weekend after Thanksgiving - November 26-28, 2010!
